Child Rights are the human rights of children with particular attention to the rights of special protection and care afforded to minors. The 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) defines a child as "any human being below the age of eighteen years, unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier." Children's rights includes their right to association with both parents, human identity as well as the basic needs for physical protection, food, universal state-paid education, health care, and criminal laws appropriate for the age and development of the child, equal protection of the child's civil rights, and freedom from discrimination on the basis of the child's race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, religion, disability, color, ethnicity, or other characteristics.

It was in 2012, when a group of likeminded people put their thought on contributing some of their time, resource and energy towards ensuring the Rights of the Children in the remote areas of North 24 Parganas. Earlier they have been to these places and seen the vulnerabilities of the children and started thinking of doing something for them. The collective thought of this group led to the formation of Swapnopuron Welfare Society (SWS). The journey began from then with involvement of people from different sectors who still continue to support the cause of SWS with their time, effort and resources to the best possible ways. SWS is a NGO in Kolkata,India.

The core areas of intervention of our NGO is child Education, child protection ,anti human trafficking , supporting menstrual hygiene management program , literacy programs for adults and women empowerment activities and skill development are the two important pillars of our organization .

The organization strives to move ahead with the thematic areas of Education, Child Protection and Adolescent issues in spirit with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), National Plan of Action for Children (NPAC) and West Bengal State Plan of Action for Children (SPAC). It looks forward to ensure age appropriate academic improvement for the children in the intervention areas bundled with protection of the children from all forms of abuse & exploitation through involvement of the parents, communities, Village Level Child Protection Committees and other stakeholders.

The organization strongly believes in:

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high

where knowledge is free

where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls

where words come out from the depth of truth

where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection.

 Rabindra Nath Tagore

"All the wealth of the world cannot help one little Indian village if the people are not taught to help themselves. Our work should be mainly educational, both moral and intellectual. If the poor boy or girl cannot come to education, education must go to him/her."
